ID TECH warrants to the original purchaser for a period of 12 months from the date of invoice that this product is in good working order and free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service. ID TECH’s obligation under this warranty is limited to, at its option, replacing, repairing, or giving credit for any product which has, within the warranty period, been returned to the factory of origin, transportation charges and insurance prepaid, and which is, after examination, disclosed to ID TECH’s satisfaction to be thus defective. The expense of removal and reinstallation of any item or items of equipment is not included in this warranty. No person, firm, or corporation is authorized to assume for ID TECH any other liabilities in connection with the sales of any product. In no event shall ID TECH be liable for any special, incidental or consequential damages to purchaser or any third party caused by any defective item of equipment, whether that defect is warranted against or not. Purchaser’s sole and exclusive remedy for defective equipment, which does not conform to the requirements of sales, is to have such equipment replaced or repaired by ID TECH. For limited warranty service during the warranty period, please contact ID TECH to obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number and instructions for returning the product.

IDTECH Xpress CM100 is a contactless smart card reader that reads contactless cards for POS payment transactions. The ID TECH contactless reader suppor ts retail applications for quick, convenient purchases where customer queuing must be minimized. It supports financial association and payment industry requirements for contactless payments. The reader accepts da ta from a variety of contactless sources, in cluding credit cards and key fobs. The Reader is in compliance with ISO/IEC 14443 Implementation Specifications and both Type A and B modulation standard cards.
Customers hold their card or fob near the reader’s Landing Plane to initiate a purchase transa ction. The area is clearly identified by the Contactless Symbol. Four LED provide easy card acceptance visibility for the cardholders.
The Xpress CM100 Reader is a peripheral device for existing Point of Sale and Electronic Cash Register termin als, providing a technology upgrade without replacing existing equipment. The reader is connected to existing systems through an RS232 or USB port. A general purpose SDK is provided to interface between the reader and applications. A separate document is available for application support information.
The Xpress CM100 reader is available in RS232 and USB-HID.
The Xpress CM100 Reader should be installed in a location where high heat, extreme cold, and liquids can be avoided. Avoid locations with direct sunlight as the UV radiation shortens the life of the plastics and may cause color fading. The reader should be placed where it is accessible for the cardholders and convenient for the clerk to observe and provide operation assistance when necessary.
To install the RS232 interface Xpress CM100 reader, connect the DB9 connector into the Host equipment communication port and plug in the power adaptor. Use only the provided power supply, which is specifically designed for the Xpress CM100 Reader.
The default COM port settings are Baud rate 38400 Data bit 8, Stop bit 1, and Parity: None
Plug the USB connector into a USB communication port on the Host. The power is supplied on the unit when the USB connector is plugged in.

Make sure the Xpress CM100 Reader is connected to a PC and is powered on and run the ID TECH Xpress CM100 demo program. There are three steps in Xpress CM100 Reader operation: ready, reading, and completion state.
Xpress CM100 Reader is in the ready state when a single indicator light (the leftmost LED) is on. This indicates that reader is ready to read a payment card or device.
When a payment card or device is placed before the reader. The best reading range is typically a minimum of 1.5 inches ( 4 cm ).
Once the payment card has been read, (this typically takes 0.2 seconds), Xpress CM100 Reader will turn on the four LED, one by one, from left to right and also emit a long beep. The LED will stay on for approximately 0.3 seconds to indicate that the contactless card can be removed. The audio tone and LED feedback sequence is an industry standard for card acceptance.
OPTIONAL MAGNETIC STRIPE READER (MSR)
The magnetic stripe reader (MSR) can read 1, 2, or 3 tracks of magnetic stripe information and it has full data editing capabilities.
The reader is fully programmable. MSR data can be formatted with preamble/postamble and terminator characters to match the format expected by the host.
MSR data is transmitted and is available to the host as standard windows API calls through the Microsoft USB HID Driver. Software applications can be conveniently developed using this standard Microsoft driver interface.
If the host computer’s application requires the MSR data in a particular format, the MSR’s output can be configured to support the application, such as re-arranging data blocks, adding terminating characters, and special preamble and/or postamble character strings to the decoded card data.
The MSR is easy to operate. To read a card, slide the card, from top to bottom, through the reader slot.
